& PRIVATE DENTISTRY

The area of a tooth visible in the mouth is known as the crown.

If this area has broken, been heavily filled or the tooth has had root canal treatment, a restoration to cover this whole area may be required. A new artificial crown is made to protect and restore the shape and function of a tooth.

The tooth will be prepared for a crown in surgery, and with the impressions taken of your teeth, a dental technician will make the crown to fit over the tooth like a cap.

This process requires 2-3 appointments over a 2-4 week period.

Crowns can be made from a variety of materials ranging from silver coloured metals for back teeth and tooth like porcelains for the front.
