& PRIVATE DENTISTRY

Veneers can greatly improve the appearance of teeth damaged through decay, trauma or discolouration. Usually a private cosmetic option, veneers are sometimes available on the NHS only if they are clinically necessary. Click here for details of the higher grade veneers.

Preparation

The benefit of veneers is that only a small amount of tooth tissue needs to be removed from the front of the tooth during the preparation stage. Using impressions taken of your teeth, a dental technician will be able to make a custom fit, thin porcelain veneer which is tooth coloured, to match the rest of your teeth.

Fit

On the fit appointment, the dentist will trial the veneer to make sure it is a good fit and a good colour match. If so, the dentist will go on to cement the veneer in using a resin bonding material to achieve the best fit and more so secure fit.

If the veneer is not the best fit or colour match it will be sent back with a new impression to remake and retried. Veneers usually require 2 appointments to complete, however in instances like this we may require 1 more appointment.
